West Coast USA: San Francisco

The west coast of America is a place i've always wanted to visit; especially San Francisco after watching one to many episodes of Charmed as a child!
We visited San Francisco, the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as some other smaller towns along the way; so be prepared for a couple of posts over the next few weeks featuring a couple of the photos I took in each place. After a whole 24 hours delayed at Heathrow airport we finally arrived in the breathtaking city that is San Francisco. I was absolutely gutted to miss out on our tour of Alcatraz due to the silly delay, but were still able to visit the main sights which included the Golden Gate Bridge & Park, Pier 39, Union Square and a beautiful small town nearby called Sausalito before getting the ferry back to the port of San Francisco which went past Alcatraz Island (woo!). I think a trip back to San Fran is definitely on the cards for the future, it was my favourite place from the trip, and I could spend days exploring the Golden Gate park and its many museums...oh and actually be able to make it to Alcatraz island for a tour!

Thanks for reading

Charmed Ivy Jewellery Haul

I'm a huge jewellery lover, usually rings and necklaces are a must with pretty much every outfit for me. Luckily I recently came across a lovely little shop called Charmed Ivy which sells the most beautiful items!

I picked up two items from the site which were the Ganesh Necklace and the Turquoise Stone ring both of which are bloody beautiful don't you think?! The Ganesh Necklace is a silver plated pendant style, which is extremely detailed and absolutely stunning making it an ideal addition to my jewellery collection, and for only £6! The Turquoise Stone ring reminds me of the rings worn on the TV show The Vampire Diaries - very old fashioned but gorgeous, and it was priced at only £4. Both items are definitely something I would wear on a daily basis, and therefore a must have in my opinion.

Have you purchased any items from Charmed Ivy?

Lush Aqua Mirabilis Massage Bar

I first tried this Lush Aqua Mirabilis Massage Bar when I won a 'You're a star gift box' from the Liverpool Lush store a couple of months ago, and its safe to say I fell in love (so you can tell this is going to be a positive review already!). I just had to go a repurchase it, and of course do a little review for you guys!

Since I have recently been using a bit of false tan, I decided that this would be the perfect product to help exfoliate my skin and therefore help to get the tan off when needed; and what a brilliant idea that was! The massage bar gives off a beautiful almond scent, and begins to turn the bath water cloudy after just seconds of being submerged. I only tend to submerge the bar for a couple of seconds in order to make it wet before rubbing over my skin. The bar leaves small sand like grains on the skin which I personally rub over again with the bar to ensure they have exfoliated properly, before rinsing it off. I find that this product does an amazing job at exfoliating the tan off, improving areas of dryness, and leaving my skin feeling as soft as a baby's bottom (as the saying goes!). This product tends to last for about 5 uses, which is great in my opinion as it does such an excellent job at improving how my skin feels and looks.
A little video clip of how the grains look on the skin can be found on the Lush website, and you can purchase the bar for just £6.25!

Have you tried this product before? What did you think of it?

Our Tiny Bees Uber Balm*

My skin can have days where it has no reaction to perfumes/lotions whatsoever, on other days I get really itchy lumpy rashes which aren't pleasant to say the least. So when OurTinyBees sent me the Uber Balm for sensitive skin I couldn't wait to try it out!
The Uber Balm comes in a small 45ml tin which is ideal for putting in your bag when going out. It is a thick creamy texture similar to vaseline which is easily spread across the skin/lips. I have to admit this isn't the nicest smelling product I have ever used as it has slight scent of honey which I'm not a huge fan of, but it is natural and doesn't contain any added chemicals which is obviously a great reason to use this on your skin. The product is well suited to those who suffer from dry skin, eczema or psoriasis as it contains Vitamin A and E which help to both protect and repair the skin; I am personally going to repurchase this little gem for the winter months to prevent cracked lips from the cold weather! I have used this a couple of times and it makes the skin feel absolutely amazing for hours after application, without leaving a greasy feel/look.
This product can be purchased from OurTinyBees for just £7.95.

Have you tried this product? What did you think of it?

Hola, Barcelona!

Barcelona is definitely one of my favourite cities to visit, i've been there twice now and both times it hasn't failed to amaze. This time around I went on the official city bus tour which was meant to take around two and a half hours for both routes (orange and green) so that we could see both the Nou Camp and the Sagrada Familia (plus a lot of other great sightseeing places!) which were on different routes, however sadly it actually took around 4 and a half hours which was rather disappointing as I didn't have time to go shopping in Las Ramblas boo! The previous time we visited Barcelona we used the underground to get around from place to place, which we found was a lot easier and a lot cheaper than the tours, so I would definitely suggest using that method of getting around over the tour buses if you're planning a visit there anytime soon.

Models Own Nail Polish Haul

I decided to try out the Models Own Nail Polishes as they were on offer (6 for £20 mix and match) and I had never used them before. They arrived really quickly, and in lovely packaging (A+ for that!), so I couldn't wait to try them out..I ordered the Tropical sun (Beetlejuice), Indian Ocean (Beetlejuice), Aqua Splash (Splash), Vintage Pink, Speckled Eggs Swan Lilac and the Lilac Sheen Hypergel - shown from left to right in the above picture.

As you can see they are all really pretty. Vintage Pink and Speckled Egg are definitely my faves! I applied one application on each of the nails, the brush allows easy application with coverage of the entire nail in the one application, and so far I haven't had much of a chipping problem (typically lasts about 2/3 days without a chip)!
I think that the Aqua splash should be applied on top of another polish (Blue/Lilac) to make it stand out a bit better, and add a bit of sparkle to another polish you may already have! The Tropical Sun and Indian Ocean polishes may need more than one application to make the colour stand out a bit more!
As for the Vintage Pink, Speckled Egg and Lilac Sheen Hypergel the coverage from one application was impressive, and the colours are gorgeous. All of the polishes dry in no time at all, which is always a bonus and seem to be chip resistant for a few days. So my opinion, definitely worth a try

I think the speckled egg range will be a big hit in the summer!
