Quick and Easy Apple Pie

Baking, or come to think of it cooking in general has never been a strong point of mine.
So this year I hope to improve on that by setting myself little cooking goals for throughout the year. I started my baking adventure off with an apple pie just before Christmas. Granted this is quite a simple apple pie to start me off with, but if you're new to this whole cooking malarkey or just want to make something fun then this quick and easy apple pie is definitely worth a try.

Ingredients used
Princes Apple Fruit Filling
Jus Rol Shortcrust Sheet Pastry
1-2 teaspoons of Sugar
Pastry Brush
Sandwich Tin
10ml Water

-Leave the pastry out of the fridge for 45 minutes before use or microwave for about 1 minute before use to soften it.
-Preheat your oven to 200ºC (180ºC fan assisted)/400ºF/Gas 6
-Unroll your pastry very carefully, ensuring no cracks appear in it (if any cracks do appear then simply wet your finger with water and dab the cracks to smooth them out)
-Cut out your pie base using the outside rim of the sandwich tin as a template, push the pastry into the tin and fill with the apple fruit filling.
-Cut out strips of the remaining pastry to create the lattice pattern on the top of the pie, once they have been placed across the pie push them down at the corners ensuring that the edges of the base meet the lattice strips.
-Dip the pastry brush in water and lightly coat the top of the pie before sprinkling 1-2 teaspoons of sugar over
-Place in the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes until the pastry has turned golden brown.

  1. This looks yummy! I haven't actually attempted pastry yet but I'm hoping to make a gluten free chicken pie this weekend for me and Dan, so hopefully that will go well haha! I'm also going to be trying to learn to cook this year so I can't wait to see how you do!
