How to start wedding planning

I'm one of those people who have to be super organised. I get married in August 2019, and my wedding is pretty completely much sorted already. Some would say i'm a bit of a bridezilla, I like to say i'm methodical; I mean if I organise things now, I won't have to stress out as much closer to the time.

How I got organised...

Give yourself plenty of time
You may be one of those laid back people who don't have a care in the world (if so i'm pretty damn jealous!), however weddings are definitely one of those things that need to be planned. Book your venue well in advance, then get planning. It'll creep up on you before you know it!

Pinterest
I created secret boards of pretty much everything wedding related - wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, cakes, flowers etc.. - you get the jist. Having each individual element of the wedding there to look at gives you so much inspiration for your own wedding, I was finding things I'd never even thought of before.

Create a spreadsheet
I have an excel spreadsheet with everything on that we will be getting/booking for the wedding with a budget for each alongside them. This will help you keep track of how much you're spending, what you can actually afford and may even help you to save money in the long run. I budgeted hundreds more than we're actually paying for our wedding cake by shopping around, if you plan in advance you too could do this!

Have a wedding folder
It's important to keep all of your wedding related documentation in one place, i'd highly recommend getting a folder to keep all of your receipts and order forms in.

Hope this post helps you get started on your wedding planning journey!

  2. We've just booked the last of our suppliers for our wedding next October - just suits and bridemaid dresses to sort now! It's so exciting, plus completely stress-free as it's been done so early!

  4. This is exactly how I plan to plan (is it sad I'm planning on how to plan?) my wedding. My fiance and I have been engaged for 10 months but haven't settled on a date yet; I don't need to worry at the moment but once that date is set, I'm going to turn into a major bridezilla. Pinterest is going to be my biggest source of inspiration but I think I might take your advice and have multiple secret boards for each part of our wedding.
