Making the most out of your blog*

The blogging world can be a very frustrating and disheartening place to be a part of. Its extremely hard to build a blog following, especially because there are so many amazing bloggers out there in the same genre - whether that is beauty, lifestyle, fashion, gaming you name it there is probably fifty others out there feeling the exact same. This is why you need to make the most out of your blog, and every single post that you write to ensure it gets the attention it deserves.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is a huge part of the blogging world, and puts your blog on the map for all those people out there searching for a makeup tutorial, food recipe or even a book review. My host for my blog is the website Blogger, which I've had since I started blogging over four years ago now (yikes). I only really got into looking at SEO after about a year blogging, and it made a huge difference in the number of hits my blog got. One of the sites I used to help with my SEO tactics was MOZ which helped me get rid of hundreds of old links from past posts which was damaging to my blogs domain authority rating. Another method I used to optimise my SEO was ensuring I had a mobile accessible website. Paying that little bit extra for a blog template is always a good idea, especially when you can pick up a blogging bargain from sites such as Pipdig for beautiful templates with all the latest widgets and mobile optimisation.

Traffic generated from SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is free meaning you can get people clicking on your blog using keywords from a search, whereas the traffic generated from PPC (Pay Per Click) is as the name suggests paid for, meaning you only pay a fee when someone clicks on the ad. PPC basically allows your add to show up on the top of a search engine results page when the person has searched for related items, and you as the advertiser will only pay the fee if someone clicks on your add. This type of advertisement is definitely very inviting with advantages including giving your brand a large reach and exposure, can result in immediate and consistent traffic to your site and it allows for accurate tracking of page views. I definitely feel as though using a PPC agency is the way to go if you've got a budget and would like quick growth for your blog. However if you're a bit strapped for cash then stick to the SEO basics mentioned above until your blog gets going, and then maybe invest in the PPC to boost your growth after a year or two.
